How sitting in 35-degree water can build your resilience and stability.
I’m here today in Todd Lake in Bend Oregon, where I just did five minutes of a cold water plunge. The water is 35 degrees, so nice and cold.
Are you thinking it’s crazy to be in water that cold? Many people do! However, the reason I do cold water therapy, or cold water immersion, is because it’s great for developing better emotional resilience and stability, mental strength, and nervous system regulation. Sitting in cold water and doing hard things help our bodies become more resilient. That way when external things stress us out, our bodies are prepared to respond instead of just unconsciously reacting.
Start where you are now. For you, this could be a cold shower every morning, or even cold water in a bathtub—just start somewhere. Commit to it every day, and I promise you’ll see the change in your resilience.
If you have any questions, call or email me anytime, I would love to chat with you.
