Why you should lean in whenever you’re doing something hard.
I’m coming to you today from El Cap in Yosemite. It’s a scary peak, but Alex Han scaled it without any equipment in the documentary “Free Solo.” Many people said it was impossible, but by doing it, he gave others permission to do the same. After his successful climb, many more scaled El Cap with no equipment.
We do hard things, and when people say something is impossible, they’re actually saying, “I’m possible.” Today I hiked for 7 hours across 15 miles, and it was the most intense hiking I’ve ever done. I learned so much about myself, and I found courage and strength I didn’t know I had.
Now I’m celebrating after that hike and encouraging all of you. If you’re doing something hard, lean in—“I’m possible,” not impossible.
